George Lubega: Stagename Exodus 3v8

STOP PRESS:
EXODUS 3v8 has now been awarded TOP GOSPEL ARTIST of Uganda the last 3 years

Till 1994, George lived in a loving home with his mother Dorine, and brother Gilbert. Dorine died of AIDS and while 5 year old Gilbert was taken by an aunt, 10 year old George was thrown into the street, living off rubbish dumps.

By 12 years old he was addicted to alcohol and marijuana (Ganjaweed), mostly to overcome hunger painsat night. "I couldn't believe mama was dead. I kept saying, 'She will come back one day.'

After 7 years of hell, I was found nearly dead and admitted into hospital. When discharged, I went to Robert Kayanja's church 'Miracle Centre Cathedral' and gave my life to Jesus. They gave me a place to stay and I joined the choir. That's where I meet mama Irene... when she preached there every month.

That was 2001 and God has healed me and given me talent... and my mama Irene. So now I sing Gospel music in secular clubs in the city, and lead many people out of the world of drugs and discos into the better life God has planned for them. Please pray for me, my safety and my career. I am out at 3am twice a week.

As well I work with former child soldiers of North Uganda. I encourage the youth to exchange guns for guitars - to express their disappointment and anger in music with a positive message.

Like them, I have suffered needlessly, but God has lifted me up and out.

And I thank the donors of CKS who have contributed to outfitting the new recording studio. It's called GEAR RECORDS... 'God's Everlasting Affection Revealed'. It will give the youth who have suffered, a voice in this world. I want to inspire them to write poetry about their experiences, put it to music and record it.

I look forward to meeting many CKS supporters when I visit Australia as a child of CKS to sing for you in November 2010.
