Current Projects

CKS is impacting the war traumatised children and youth of Kitgum Uganda through these daily activities on several project sites under supervision of our on-site Director, Irene Gleeson; Chief Administrator, John Paul Kiffasi; and 400 Ugandan teachers, nurses, builders, drivers, counsellors and cooks.

1 • PRIMARY SCHOOLS:
Childcare Kitgum Primary School, Childcare Amida Primary School, Childcare Padibe Primary School & Childcare Orom Primary School (under construction)

8,000 pupils receive daily:

  • FREE Breakfast and lunch for every pupil plus malnourished feeding program
  • FREE Education Primary 1 to Primary 7
  • FREE Medicine and Clinic sees 200 orphans
  • FREE clothing and blanket distribution
  • FREE waterbores and bathing facilities

2 • VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE & TECHNICAL INSTITUTE:
Training youth and ex-child soldiers for self-sufficiency

3 • CHILDCARE COMMUNITY CHURCHES:
Providing counseling and practical social services

  • Counsel escaped abductees
  • Visit hospitals
  • Rebuild widow's houses
  • Youth Celebrations
  • Football Team Choir

4 • CKS FM RADIO & CULTURAL ARTS STUDIO
Giving war traumatised children a voice

  • Community education
  • Indigenous Christian music
  • Debates and preaching
  • Developing creativity in war-oppressed community through Dance, Drama, Art and Literature

5 • GLORYLAND JUNCTION AIDS HOSPICE

60 beds (free care and medicine for patients)
  • Children released from nursing dying parents
  • Comfort care for terminal AIDS patients
  • Especially for infected nursing mothers - infants given milk formula
  • AIDs orphanage for infant
  • Volunteer medical staff welcome
  • Christian music
  • Flower gardens
  • Miracles expected

6 • WATER BORE PROVISION

  • 14 water bores installed by CKS for schools and communities
